Orlando for Brazilian Families: Food, Culture, Family Fun and Fun Spot America
There is a reason Orlando feels unusually familiar to so many Brazilian families. Brazil is not simply one of the city’s biggest international visitor markets. Brazilian culture has become part of everyday life across Central Florida. You hear Portuguese in hotel lobbies, restaurants, shops and attractions. Brazilian families live throughout Orlando and Kissimmee, Brazilian-owned businesses are part of the local landscape, and entire stretches of the tourism corridor are filled with restaurants, bakeries, markets and services that make visitors from Brazil feel welcome almost as soon as they arrive.
That connection has been growing for years. In 2025, more than 736,000 visitors came to Orlando from Brazil, making Brazil the city’s third-largest international visitor market. Those visitors join a vibrant local Brazilian population that has helped give Orlando a character that feels different from many other American vacation destinations. It is entirely possible to spend the morning somewhere unmistakably American, stop for pão de queijo and coffee in the afternoon, have picanha and farofa for dinner, and hear Portuguese several times along the way.
Brazilian Food and Familiar Comforts in Orlando
For Brazilian families staying a week, two weeks or longer, that familiarity can make a big difference. Orlando still feels like a major international vacation, but it does not always feel completely foreign. Brazilian supermarkets make it easy to stock a vacation home with familiar groceries. Churrascarias and casual Brazilian restaurants are easy to find. Bakeries offer the kind of breakfast that feels right before a long day out. On a big soccer day, green and yellow shirts begin appearing all over town, and Brazilian restaurants can quickly become gathering places filled with people who have very strong opinions about what should be happening on the field.
The Brazilian influence is especially noticeable around International Drive, Kissimmee and the surrounding tourism districts. Families can move easily between Orlando’s best-known attractions and places that feel a little more like home. A morning might begin at a Brazilian bakery before heading to the outlets. Lunch might mean rice, beans, grilled meat and farofa instead of another quick theme park meal. Families staying in vacation rentals can stop at a Brazilian market on the way back and finish the evening around the pool with food everyone already loves.
Shopping, Culture and Community
Shopping has become part of the Orlando tradition too. Brazilian visitors have long made the city’s outlets, malls and shopping districts part of the vacation, and for many families, a shopping day is every bit as anticipated as a day at the attractions. The extra suitcase that seemed unnecessary when everyone left Brazil often starts to look like excellent planning before the trip home.
There is plenty to enjoy beyond food and shopping. Brazilian concerts, cultural celebrations, soccer gatherings and community events take place throughout Central Florida during the year. Many visitors also have relatives or friends who already live in the area, which means a trip to Orlando can easily become part vacation and part family reunion. That sense of community is one of the reasons the relationship between Brazil and Orlando feels so natural. Some families are visiting for the first time, some return every year, and others have made Central Florida their permanent home.
A Family Day at Fun Spot America
At Fun Spot America, we get to see that relationship from a particularly fun point of view. We hear Portuguese around the Go Kart tracks and throughout the parks. We see parents arriving with children, grandparents, cousins and friends. We watch teenagers challenge their parents to races, younger children work up the courage to try a new ride and entire families stop to take pictures together before deciding what to do next.
That family energy fits Fun Spot well because a day with us does not have to be complicated. Orlando has some of the biggest attractions in the world, and they are a major reason families travel here, but they can also make for very long days. After several mornings that begin before sunrise and a vacation calendar filled with reservations, there is something nice about being able to decide what sounds fun and simply go do it.
Fun Spot gives families that flexibility. General admission is free for guests who are not riding, and parking is free at both of our Florida parks. That makes a real difference when several generations are traveling together. Grandparents can come along without needing a ride pass. One parent can stay with a younger child while older children ride. Family members who love roller coasters can chase the bigger attractions while someone else enjoys the park at a slower pace.
The whole family can stay part of the day without everyone having to experience it in exactly the same way.
Go Kart Races and Family Bragging Rights
Our Go Karts are often where things get interesting. They have been part of Fun Spot America from the beginning, and they remain one of the experiences families talk about long after the vacation is over. Our outdoor gas-powered Go Karts run on patented multi-level tracks that climb, descend and wind through turns, making the race feel like much more than a slow lap around a flat course.
Brazilian families seem to understand the competitive possibilities almost immediately. The first race often begins with everyone smiling and insisting that nobody cares who wins. A few minutes later, Dad has an explanation for why he should have finished first, one of the teenagers is demanding another race and somebody who claimed not to be competitive is suddenly very interested in the official result. Fortunately, another race is usually a perfectly reasonable solution.
Fun Spot Orlando: Roller Coasters, Splash Pad and Gator Spot
Our Orlando park is located at 5700 Fun Spot Way, close to International Drive and many of the hotels, restaurants and attractions Brazilian visitors already know. It is easy to work into a day without rearranging the entire vacation.
White Lightning is one of the signature attractions at Fun Spot Orlando and remains Orlando’s only wooden roller coaster. It has the speed, sound and personality that make wooden coasters such a different experience from their steel counterparts. Freedom Flyer offers another kind of ride, with guests suspended beneath the track as the coaster moves through its course.
For families looking for something considerably higher, the Orlando SkyCoaster rises 250 feet above the park. Looking at it from the ground is one thing. Standing at the top is something else entirely. Every family seems to have at least one person who wants to try it immediately and another who is perfectly happy to provide encouragement from below.
Younger guests have plenty of options as well. Fun Spot Orlando includes family rides, Kid Spot attractions and a Splash Pad with more than 30 interactive water features. On a warm Florida afternoon, the Splash Pad can become one of the most popular places in the park very quickly.
The Orlando park is also home to Gator Spot, created in partnership with Gatorland. More than 100 alligators live there along with other animals, giving visiting families a chance to add a little Florida wildlife to the day. It is possible to race Go Karts, ride a wooden roller coaster, cool off in the water and see real alligators without leaving the park, which is a fairly convincing introduction to Central Florida.
Fun Spot Kissimmee: Mine Blower and the World’s Tallest SkyCoaster
Fun Spot America Kissimmee offers its own version of the experience. Located at 2850 Florida Plaza Boulevard next to Old Town, the park is especially convenient for families staying in Kissimmee and the many vacation-home communities south of Orlando. This is an area Brazilian travelers have been visiting for years, and the combination of attractions, restaurants, shops and vacation rentals makes it easy to spend an entire evening nearby.
Kissimmee has Go Karts, children’s attractions, family rides, thrill rides and an arcade, but two experiences tend to get plenty of attention. Mine Blower is a wooden roller coaster with an 80-foot drop that sends riders into an inversion. It is the only wooden roller coaster in Florida that goes upside down, which is the kind of fact that usually convinces one member of the family to try it and gives another member a very good reason to remain on the ground.
The Kissimmee SkyCoaster rises 300 feet and is the tallest SkyCoaster in the world. From the ground, 300 feet sounds like a number. Once you are standing underneath it, the measurement becomes considerably easier to appreciate. Some guests look up and cannot wait to ride. Others decide that someone should probably stay below and take pictures. Both approaches work.
An Evening Together, Without a Complicated Plan
One of the nicest times to visit either park is later in the day. Central Florida changes after sunset. The temperature becomes more comfortable, the park lights come on, the coaster tracks stand out against the night and the Go Karts take on a different atmosphere under the lights. For families who have already spent the morning shopping, sightseeing or relaxing at the pool, an evening at Fun Spot can be an easy way to finish the day without feeling as though every hour had to be planned in advance.
That freedom is especially useful for large family groups. A younger child may think a small ride is the best thing they have experienced all week. A teenager may want the biggest coaster in the park. Dad may be focused on winning another Go Kart race. Mom may simply be hoping to get one photograph where everyone is looking at the camera at the same time. Grandparents may be happiest watching the entire thing unfold.
There is room for all of them here.
That is really what makes Fun Spot such a natural addition to an Orlando vacation. It gives families a chance to spend time together without asking everyone to want exactly the same thing. You can make the park a big part of the day or stop by after doing something else. You can arrive in the afternoon, stay into the evening and decide what to ride when you get here.
For Brazilian visitors, that can fit nicely into a trip that already has plenty happening. Spend the morning discovering a new part of Orlando, stop somewhere for a Brazilian lunch, shop for a while, meet friends who live nearby or enjoy a few hours at the hotel. When everyone is ready for something fun, come race the Go Karts, ride White Lightning or Mine Blower, visit the alligators or find out who in the family is actually willing to try the SkyCoaster once they are standing underneath it.
Bem-vindos ao Fun Spot America
Brazil has become an important part of Orlando, and Orlando has clearly become important to Brazilian families too. Some guests are here for their first trip to Florida, while others have been coming for years and know the restaurants, shopping centers and roads almost as well as people who live here. Others have made Central Florida their home and are raising families only a few miles from our parks.
However long you are here, enjoy that connection. Explore the Brazilian restaurants and bakeries that have become part of Orlando. Visit the markets, enjoy the shopping, spend time with friends and family, and experience the attractions that brought you to Central Florida in the first place.
Somewhere in the middle of all of that, leave a little room for a day that is simply about being together and having fun.
That is what we hope families find when they come to Fun Spot America. Whether you are visiting Orlando for the first time, returning for another family vacation or already call Central Florida home, we are glad to have you here and we look forward to welcoming you and your family.
Bem-vindos ao Fun Spot America. We are glad Orlando brought us together.
